It’s our anniversary tomorrow!!! I can’t believe it has been three years since I married my person. In honor of our three-year wedding anniversary, I thought it would be fitting to share some of my favorite imperfect memories of our beautiful wedding day.
One of the things I hear many brides stress about is having the ‘perfect’ day. Wedding fears plague even the most carefree couples. They often stress over the most minor details that really, in all honesty, not one of your guests will remember or notice. What is an imperfect wedding to you is a fantastically fun and beautiful event to your loved ones.
Trust me, because I was one of them. From the get-go, our day was destined to rain (during an outdoor ceremony), and when I mean rain, I mean like a full-blown hurricane on the Jersey Shore.
We chose Argo’s Farm as our wedding venue. And, we had purchased a few 10×30 tents that we set up to prepare for the outdoor ceremony to hopefully protect us and our guests from the rain. Hay bales were our seating of choice. And, the clouds were very dark and heavy.
Most of our guests arrived early so we decided to start the ceremony a little early to try to beat the storm. As I walked down the aisle, the tent was trying to blow away so all of our friends and uncles were standing on the hay bales trying to keep the tents on the ground.
I don’t know about you, but I cry for pretty much every emotion. I was so dang proud of myself for keeping it all together all day. Until I stepped out onto the aisle and I heard Shania Twain’s “From this moment on.” The tears just punched me in the face.
Friendly Advice – pay the extra amount for the waterproof airbrush make up! You won’t regret it. 😉
Larry & I took dance lessons to have our first dance choreographed. It was so much fun and no one cared that we missed a few steps, lost our count, or that my shoes flew off my feet.
We decided to be true to ourselves and our ice cream addiction and asked Dairy Queen to make a blizzard cake for our wedding reception. It was delicious, we had a ton left over, and everyone loved it.
But, it’s all of those imperfect memories that are truly my favorite from the day.
Your day will be just as special. Soak in all of the little moments, the imperfect moments, and the beautiful moments.
