On Tuesday, September 14, we made our fourth appearance at the Love ‘N Fresh flowers farm in Philadelphia, PA for our fourth cohort of the 2021 season. This Love ‘N Fresh florals cohort is proving to be such a valuable resource – for the relationships we are developing with budding floral entrepreneurs and the wisdom that Jennie shares so lovingly.
Each member of the cohort has some level of floral experience and a desire to pursue floral design as a career – either freelance designing or as an entrepreneur. Our discussions are one of the most valuable learning opportunities for each of us – as many of us are going through the same struggles together.
This week we discussed our recent endeavors in the floral design industry and practiced our urn arrangements. Urns are an amazing statement piece for weddings or funerals. They can be created to be one-sided or with a 360º design. And, they can be dramatic, wild, classic, romantic, and filled with any flower or color palette of your choosing. Perfect for a welcome or escort card table, ceremony aisle statement pieces, or to frame your sweetheart table.
This beauty was created in a Jamali Garden urn with all locally and sustainably grown flowers from Jennie’s flower farm, Love ‘N Fresh Flowers. Some of the featured flowers include dahlias (dinner plate and ball varieties), zinnias, strawflower, Sweet Annie, celosia, cosmos, and a variety of greens and textural, scented foliage.
I am so looking forward to my next and final cohort in October. During our last session we will be diving into installations- hanging chandeliers from the ceiling, pillars for ceremony structures, and ceremony half-moon meadows for the dreamiest wedding ceremonies.
